Summarizer
Peter (and Kit, of course) joins the secret service of the Queen. The two friends and another person named Tom go to find the group of people that are planning a mysterious plot. They go to Cumberland, suspecting that Sir Philip and his allies will be somewhere around there. They decide to look in the tower. To be safe, the three friends hid when they first arrived at the tower in case anyone was there, looking for them. They see a group of people arrive on hoses and the next day, the people leave. Tom decides to go look inside, hoping to find out what Sir Philip’s plan is. Only one problem: he never comes back.
Peter decides to risk going in and looking for Tom. Peter makes a plan that if after twenty minutes he has not returned, Kit will whistle. Peter gets in and starts walking, but soon enough, he hears something… He hides at once and overhears a conversation between two people involved in the plan. By doing this, he finds out that the whole plan is to kill the Queen during a loud scene in the play. The two men soon start getting closer and closer to Peter until he gets worried and thinks he needs to do something about it. He decides to attempt going down a flight of stairs in the dark and hiding in a cellar. He slips on something on the stairs and falls with a loud noise. He falls unconscious and that is where the chapter ends.

What do you think happened to Tom?

I think that Tom is still alive, but he is being kept somewhere else like Peter. He might of fell going down the stairs and made noise, or maybe the blood wasn’t even his and the man Arthur and the other man heard was someone completely different. If it was Tom who they heard and it was his blood, then there are good chances that he is dead.

Why do you think Arthur Duncan took Peter to the island?

Maybe Arthur took Peter to the island because he had known there was a storm coming and that there was no means of escape from the island. Also it is far from the tower and thus Kit and maybe Tom, so there is no way that Peter could have sent a secret mesage or signal.

What do you think Kit is doing?

I think that after Peter didn’t answer her signal that she did what he told her and went to his father. I think that Kit is very worried and will go with Peter’s father when he goes to look for Peter. I do not think that she would come into the tower herself because she seems smarter then that.

Do you think that what Peter did to Arthur was a good choice, why?

No, I don’t think that Peter should have thrown the rock and Arthur because now he has nowhere to go. He is stuck on an island in the middle of a storm, a very precarious position! If Arthur wakes up and finds out what happened he will not be so nice to Peter.

P. 189 Last paragraph
I found this paragraph an amazing paragraph. It was very suspenseful and it left you almost on the edge of your seat. I love how the author used this as the last paragraph in the chapter.

P. 186
I liked this page because Peter is listening to the Men’s conversation and he realizes that they are talking about someone he knows. I found this a very good paragraph because it is full of discovery on the men and what they are doing.
